Declan, I loved the way that you combined two things that you are passionate about, in your project about animation and aircrafts. This combination showed creativity, and flexible thought, when your initial ideas didn't pan out as you had imagined. You persisted in your investigations, and reached the desired outcome in the end. This is the process I went through during my passion project.

Passion Project Criteria

This is my Passion Project Criteria. It shows the different levels of expertise that I think I am at for passion projects. It also has my opinion on what I would do differently next time and what I would like the teachers to do that would help me.

GIMP

This is GIMP, the program that I am using to edit the background on my animation. GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is like photoshop except it has a lot more features. It is good for editing photos on to photos or videos on to photos. It is great for anyone who needs a great editing program.

"Fair Go Ad Awards" Ad

This is the ad Thomas and I made at Enrich. The topic is "How To Improve Your Parents". It shows that you shouldn't smack children and that parents have to be nice, not bad. We sent it away to FairGo and now we're waiting for the results with our fingers crossed. Hope you like it.

Stage Two of my Passion Project

I have finished the ad and now it is time for Stage Two. I am going to make an Animovie Documentary called Flight Through The Ages. It has Lego men doing commentary and real videos of planes and other flying machines. After I finish it I am planning to post it on my blog. I hope it will be of interest to people who like aviation and history.

Tutorials

Tutorials can really help you when you are stuck on things like animations. Youtube is really handy because lots of people can make videos on how to do things that you don't know. This photo below is one of the ones that helped me.

This is the plan for my ad that I did with Thomas. It was just a brief over view for us to sort out the ad with ease.

Passion Project 2010/ FairGo Ad Awards Prior Knowledge

This year I am doing a new passion project. This year I am splitting it in two. First, I am entering the FairGo Ad Awards with my friend Thomas. The topic is how to improve your parents. We're going to animate a Lego guy and make him look huge and he's called the Robo-Parent 2000. Second, I am going to combine a Lego Animation and a movie to make what I call an Animovie. I will make it with a Lego solar powered car, a Lego gun that shoots tornados and ghosts that the tornados suck up.

To make an ad you have to have a video camera and a computer. Then you video a scene that you have planned. After that you upload it to the computer and do some editing with sound. Finally, send the ad to the tv station and they might put it on tv.

Talent evaluation feedback

Declan you had to strive for accuracy many times throughout your talent development project. You showed persistence as you built and programmed each robot especially with the dragstar. It was great to read in your reflection that you applied past knowledge to a new situation when building different robots. I also wonder if it will be possible to build and programme an NXT Lego helicopter, this would be a unique design.
